My name is J. Hayes, aka Ciego. I currently reside in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and ride a tweaked Sector 9 longboard through the wild streets of NYC. I am a freelance writer, artist and carpenter. My longboard is my primary means of transportation (in conjunction with trains and buses), and I often ride with the RatRod crew. RatRod is an innovative group of skaters modifying their boards for the rugged and unpredictable city ride. We come from Brooklyn to Washington Heights to the East Village, and feature key members of Hoboken’s Bustin Boards. This blog chronicles some harrowing adventures while on the board, some great footage from riding the concrete wave, and maps with excellent skating routes.
